Dear Father John

I was delighted to hear from various quarters about your planned "Fly Away to Heaven" goodwill project. It is a most imaginative venture in promoting the World Youth Day Message amongst Australians, as well as fund-raising to enable Third World Pilgrims to attend.

I am writing therefore to offer you my endorsement of the project. I think this will be a very helpful initiative in bringing the good new about World Youth day to churched and unchurched youth alike and to the broader Australian community. It will also help raise funds for East Timorese pilgrims to attend.

World Youth ay promises to be the greatest celebration of faith, and of youth, in the history of our country and of our region. It is wonderful that people like you Father John, and your sponsors, are joining so many others in lending their support to this great endeavour. We have promoted “Fly Away to Heaven” to each of our advisory committees and will continue to do so.
